Denise Biellmann 1979 Worlds LP

Denise landed a rare triple loop at this event. She never did it again in Worlds but still shows she was the first lady capable of landing 4 different triples; lutz, loop, sal and toe. I wonder why she never tried the flip?

@snowballwannabe Someone asked me recently who I thought were the 3 most influential women skaters of the last 40 years. I answered without any hesitation: Janet Lynn, Denise Biellman and Midori Ito. Why? Because those 3 really moved our sport forward in the ladies. Its odd that none of them ever actually won the Olympics, but in my opinion they were the 3 milestone skaters.

She changed the rules of figureskating. Every big championship everybody would see her skate and everybody would be absolutely appalled that she didn't win.

This is great! She does doubles so beautifully - they are just perfect makes me wish triples were off-limits :-)

Thank you for posting this - i did wonder what the cameraman was thinking when he zoomed in on her feet during the Biellmann spin. (?)
