Thank you for explanations and provided link. I think both versions are beautiful. There is no problem with the guitar here, really. They both interact nicely like part of each other.

please. try to experience the subtle chord changes and the peaceful and calm atmosphere.

I am used to this version and I find it hard to accept the one we're listening to.

i strongly suggest you hear evelyn play it on a marimba solo.

it's an orthodox hymn. it has weight and majesty within, not some electric jazzed improv slides and shots.

by that i have no disregard to guitar, jazz and improv players as i appreciate such talent from the heart - but this guitar and marimba hymn just don't match.
