Years ago I lived in a 480 year old house, my uncle from Ohio took at least 150 pictures of the thing to take bach over the pond, he actually was in restructuring over there and had never seen anything that old except for some monastery somewhere in California that goes down for being the oldest building in the US built by europeans.

Of course there are older buildings left by the Hopi but apparently they don't count for the average american.

Thanks, I made it back when you had to use your username to log into Youtube. After forgetting my details for about 3 earlier accounts, I decided to make a memorable one and it stuck. Got sick of having to register again every few months!

I don't think you understand what comedy is all about. Besides, he really does have a point. Ever (small) town has buildings from the 18th century, they aren't special at all. Really old buildings to us were build at least 500 years ago. I know of a building in the Netherlands that's 1000 years old and I'm sure every european country has them too. Not saying the US doesn't have an interesting history, but relatively speaking the US is still in it's diapers.

Comedians do this thing called exaggeration, it gets a laugh sometimes. Also, he's got really good delivery, so even if he was talking nonsense, it's still funny. But I think he's spot-on. Americans do have an irreverence for history. My state capital building had murals painted in the 1800s on all the walls. In the 1950s, white walls were stylish. So the murals were painted over. It's just the sort of thing he's talking about! It's hilarious!

I don't think he knows what he's talking about. Europeans have never really seemed to understand the complexity of America. Each state has it's own unique character and way of doing things. For instance, someone living in a modern McMansion in a sprawling Houston suburb lives quite differently than someone living in a 200 year old Beacon Hill townhouse in Boston. The same applies to historical preservation-it varies from state to state. In any case I'm starting to find Eddie Izzard to be somewh

I find this particularly amusing as there is a castle near where I live right in the middle of a junction, so it actually is in the way and you have to drive around it. Fuckin' castles!
