Please lock me away
And don't allow the day
Here inside where I hide
With my loneliness

I don't care what they say I won't stay
In a world without love

Birds sing out of tune
And rain clouds hide the moon
I'm OK, here I'll stay
With my loneliness

I don't care what they say I won't stay
In a world without love

So I wait and in a while
I will see my true love's smile
She may come, I know not when
When she does I lose
So baby until then

Lock me away
And don't allow the day
Here inside where I hide
With my loneliness

I don't care what they say I won't stay
In a world without love

  • Paul McCartney wrote this, and gave it to Peter & Gordon. this was the era The Beatles were writing so many songs they had extras they didnt need for their own albums so they gave them to friends. Peter Asher is Jane Asher's brother, and Jane Asher was Paul's girlfriend in the early Beatles days- so it makes sense that Paul gave Peter this song

  • JOHN AND PAUL ARE JUST "OVERFLOWING" SONGWRITERS.........THE ROLLING STONES GOT ONE AS WELL.

  • beatles shouldve kept it

  • @whatacrank Because we've started downloading them illegally.

  • birds sing out of tune, and chemtrails hide the moon

  • This is a really good song why has the world been violated with teen shit

  • @steppedinit exactly !! Also, the guitarist on the electric guitar was playing the nicer chords and fills. But Peter and Gordon did have great harmony, and did this song justice.

  • I was 5 or 6 years old when this song came out and in the 1st grade. This song most definitely takes me back to that age and grade in my mind and always leaves me feeling good. One of my favorite songs.

  • A #1 hit for Peter & Gordon in June 1964. It also hit #1 in the United Kingdom and on the Cashbox charts.
