he is actually pretty impressed

I wish I had spoken to him more when I had the chance. He stayed at a hotel I worked at in London in the mid seventies. He was so polite and friendly, sad thing is that I had no idea who he was. Wish I had done!!!

One of my all-time favorite drummers. He adds so much to the tune, beyond the grooves, which are tasteful by themselves. The colors he creates, the attitude of his playing, etc.
His stuff with Bill Frisell and Brad Mehldau are cemented as my favorite drumming albums.
Very tasteful, very solid, and still very refreshing, Jim Keltner is amazing.

@adminallen - had no idea he played on Dream Weaver. Makes sense now that I think about it.

He is a legend himself after playing with so many legends form 3 Beatles to Bob Dylan to CSN to Neil Diamond and other rock legends. After all that he's still so down to earth
-
he's a master drummer and musician because he understands how to play music and play for the song at hand....thats is what impresses me the most....only Neil Peart was touched by god and given the appropriate skills to be a bombastic over the top technical drummer....everyone else should follow in the footsteps of starr, keltner, rudd, erskine, gadd...etc....simple and effective.

I'm a guitar player but I can say out of every drummer Jim Keltner is the most amazing drummer to watch play as he conveys an organic mastery and understanding of groove so heavily when you see him play. A total thrill - he is as someone commented below, simply bad-ass! A pro's pro to be sure. Old school perfection. My favorite all time rock drummer.

Great player.
Rudes? Must have been his punk phase
-
@nunobits12 ... or maybe he just wears them because he looks cool ... in which case ... mission accomplished
