  • @Iamthenoi 8 hours. called a glow stick uses the same stuff as you see here but a little different

  • Is there any naturaly occuring chemicals (without resorting to squashing fireflys I mean) that can be combined to create this effect? For instance is there anything that could have been conveivably been used by ancient people to create a fireless lantern??? Or even some sort of Mechanoluminescence that would work? I've heard of Indian Rattles with Quartz crystals that would cause tiny lights this way.

  • What's the longest we can keep a chemiluminescence reaction going for? any in equilibrium? I'm just curious to know if it could ever feasibly be used to luminate rooms etc. any info/links?

  • you probably will need a catalyst too. iron works, best is potassium hexacyanoferrate, IMO

  • bleach luminol and 1% H2O2

  • So luminol + 1%h2o2 and 0.01m NaOH

  • you need it to be in a basic solution, so add some hydroxide.

  • can luminol + 1% h2o2 luminance

  • i love chemoluminiscence :)
