Its nice to hear this without the constant little "pop" that i get from my copy. It had a small crack when i bought it. Great video! Also what year is this record player from? The re-producer looks old, but the player itself looks 60s-70s-ish.

I believe It's from the early 60's by comparing it to similar models I've seen online. The reproducer is the one that came with it & not sure if you can tell from the video or not, But it is made out of plastic. When I got it I had to put on a new cord, Oil clean & take apart the motor & replace the idler rubber.

My parents tell the tale of a few months after I was born in May 1954, they were in the car with their church leader who told them to listen when this song came on the car radio (yes they did have car radio's 55 years ago!) They were shocked that the song was recommended, considering what was being sung. Then at the end got a good laugh because I was only about 5 months old!

Very true. Most 78's are not high fidelity because most were made before the 1950's when hi fi came about. But it has little to do with the 78rpm format, it has to do with the electronic recording equipment prior to the 50's, and how well the record was taken care of. 78's also need to be played with a different stylus than 45's and LPs and preferably with a mono, not stereo, cartridge. I own several 78s from the 50's that have wonderful sound.

I always see some montage scene happening during this song. Lots of ways to go with it. Have either Desperate Housewives or Weeds ever used this song? Well they should. Atleast for commercial tease. Great little song.

RCA prided itself on labeling their records [33's, 45's, AND 78rpm] as being recorded in "New Orthophonic High Fidelity" at the time, 'damusician' (however, some reproductions can sound less impressive than the original master recording). This was the Ames' big hit in the fall of 1954, and there were indeed red vinyl copies pressed, 'subway', although I've never seen one!

You obviously never had a record in your life so for your information when a record is in a good condition and if you could ever figure out how(which you never will) to remove ALL the ticks and pops from its audio without running the audio through some lame audio editing program,you could probably realize,that the resulting quality is about 10 times(if not more)higher than any CD quality made in any studio.Playing 1 on a dinosaurus like the 1 on the vid,also not a big help either.
