this is not a spyro game. this is a game with spyro in it. it's a good game, but i think spyro was added in at the last minute so more people would buy the game.

actually, he was always meant to be in it, but originally it was supposed to have very mature content, but toys for bob intervened and reinvented him altogheter. one thing is however true, the game was never meant to appeal to those who had played earlier spyro games

@Zarr123456 They were originally planning something that had even less to do with the series than this and would have had something looked absolutely nothing like Spyro apart from being purple. Since when was the series ever about blood and humans!? Even Dawn of the Dragon didn't nearly go that far and yet people bash that game to hell for being more violent than the previous games. Just imagine how the fanbase would have reacted had that Spyro's Kingdom game actually been made.

And, above all else, this game has more of the atmosphere of the Insomniac titles than any other Spyro game since Attack of the Rhynocs GBA. I agree that it isn't a Spyro game in itself, but it still feels like the old ones. In the end, Skylanders is at least far better than what Activsion originally had planned with Spyro's Kingdom- rated M with blood, guts, gore, humans, giant black dragons, and having nothing to do with the original or legend series.

Lastly, the gameplay being different is not in any way a crime. Enter the Dragonfly and A Hero's Tail both contained the gameplay from the PS1 games, and they were both failures. The Legend series experimented with new ideas to try to keep the series fresh and Skylanders is doing the same thing. The inclusion of toys is not at all a bad idea, and in fact many people think it's brilliant. The gameplay itself is simple but fun to many children and even older people.

Thirdly, they scrapped the Sparx health mechanic way back in 2006 with The Legend of Spyro because it's an outdated game mechanic from the PS1. He now has a health bar and can now take more than 3 or 4 hits. And Sparx is in fact in the game, his character comes in the Dragon Peaks Adventure Pack which hasn't been released yet.

I've now gotten used to both of them and even think that the Skylanders design looks kind of cool. And how exactly was Spyro's voice awesome when he sounded like the Taco Bell chihuahua? As for his voice in the trailer, it was just an early preview. He sounds a lot better in the final game.
