He mentions that it's like rehab and that we're addicted to deficit spending. What he doesn't factor in is that if we are addicted to borrowing money, then suddenly stopping this can kill the country. That's the problem with hardliner approaches - they can cause more harm than good. He says we need a little pain but does not address that the pain can be overwhelming.
