it's possible to connect your guitar directly into the computer, don't know about effects, because effect go into the amp normally right? you only have 1 entrance in your computer so I guess you do your guitar and effects in the amp and the amp in the computer ;)

I have 2 videos with a different connection setup. Direct and Amp(This one). In this video I had my guitar plugged into the amp, then from the amp into the computer(from the output from your amp in the microphone(pink) slot of the computer. you might need a plug to switch from big jack to small jack(notice that your guitar's plug is bigger than the earphone plug of your mp3 player :P
