Part 4: Fitting the 4gb CF Compact Flash as Hard drive and closing the case.

In this part we will fit the CF Compact Flash as a hard drive via the 44-pin IDE slot into the CF Flash Adapter.

Then we wire up the Floppy drive and then connect the LEDs and finally put the case back together.

  • Good video. :)

Wouldn't it be better to put the flashcard someplace where you can easily replace it without opening the lid...?

  • @HQsound Sorry for late response. Yes I suppose you could but where would you suggest? The expansion Acceleration port underneath would be o.k. but if you bought a accelerator card then it would be difficult and also have wires hanging out externally are not exactly attractive. Really once you install the flash card there is no real need to constantly open the Amiga.

Get rid of the floppy. Nobody use old floppys today anyway. :)

If you use a longer cable, you can put it in there.

hmm.. or if i'm remember correctly, there is a small hole for IDE-cable one the left side, use that.

My point is that you may want to change the CF-card to a bigger one.

  • @kad3t I think you did and all I can say is ditto. :-)

  • @DLiberator78

Didn't I mention before that Amiga is one of my most favorite subjects of interest? ^_^

  • @kad3t Lol, to be honest that is the first I go for a comparison price guide. Although I have a fair idea in my head what a console/computer and/or hardware and games should be selling for. I won't pay some of the opportunists you get on eBay who find reto stuff in their attic and try to make a quick buck with it. thanks again for all your kind comments and your help. ^_^

  • @DLiberator78

Have you checked Steve Benways price guide? He's European too, so he knows a fair bit about eBay prices for such items and if not I'll try to remember to check said link tommorrow. Why not now? Well, there's *so* many of them and I only have vague clue where I have it... ^_^

  • @kad3t Yes its the Blizzard card with the 060 and SCSI that I would love to purchase but they cost a small fortune and like you said don't pop up too often.

  • @DLiberator78

Some older Blizzard cards (IIRC) came not only with faster CPUs for A1200 (68030/40 & maybe even 60) but also had Picasso GFX card imbedded in them. I believe that those all in one cards were very pricy and I don's suppose there was many of them, so if they're rare now it may be a better option just to tower it and go with the less expensive route of regular seperate CPU/Memory & GFX cards...

  • @kad3t I do need to buy an accelerator card for this Amiga, hopefully I can do some mods for it or if not get another motherboard and make a project out of that one. I do some more research.
