Otterspool Park & Promenade - Liverpool

A short walk along Otterspool Promenade, Liverpool on an autumn afternoon with showery rain giving way to bright sunshine so producing some interesting cloud effects. Construction of the promenade started in 1950 on land that had been used for dumping rubble from the construction of the Mersey Tunnel. It stretches from just north of Garston Docks (seen in the closing scenes) to Otterspool Park. It adjoins previous private parkland estates of Cressington, Fulwood and Grassendale Parks. To the north of the promenade was the site of the International Garden Festival in 1984. In 2006-7 the promenade was extensively renovated.

Thanks very much, I was pleased to include the kites in the video as I think they are a part of the promenade scene. I wasn't aware there was a dedicated group of fliers. Look forward to capturing some more footage sometime.

Lovely piece of images and video footage. Seeing the kites was very interesting as I fly there every weds and sundays. There are some parts of otterpool that I hadnt seen before included here,as I usually confine myself to the flying area with the rest of the kite flyers from the Northern Kite Group.

Thanks Phil, the promenade is a great spot for walks and I usually cycle along it most days. Part of the old Garden Festival gardens are now being restored so they will shortly add to the enjoyment

Excellent atmospheric shots Austin and beautifully presented. we have never been on the promenade we allways seem to go to New Brighton to walk beside the mersey. must have a walk there in the Spring and to think I used to drive to Garston every day in years gone by.
