I'm not that anymore mind you.

My folks made comments ,"in anger" about different races ,and then corrected themselves, because they were quiet Christian people ,they didn't want us to grow up hating anyone, and when I did become a racist skinhead in my youth they railed heavily against it. Rip mom & dad.

@Shadowless; you make a great point, archie was alot like my dad & mom ; they grew up in the depression area 1930's ,they knew about "sissy's as they were called in they're day ,but didn't talk much about them, they believed to live and let live.

@TheDanteOxalis Why not? We 'watch' it nowadays. The show was to show how racist people are, by using Archie as an example. And to 'always' have him being corrected. I don't believe we'll ever see a prejudice free world.

Although I see your point, I do not think that we should be too hard on Archie. It was clear that he had his share of redeeming qualities.

I've been openly gay since I was 14 0 way before it was the thing to do - sadly there are people out there who still think this way. I don't let it bother me - Because people who think like this are few and far between.

@LordBizarre112233 i see what you mean, but i gotta disagree. i think this show was perfect for the time period in which it aired.

@salfordguy69 That's not why Archie was uncomfortable. He is from a time where people liked to label others based on certain factors. Archie is struggling that Steve might be gay and that would shatter his definition of straight/gay people. That's why he challenged him to the arm wrestling in the first place. Anyways, Archie doesn't hate gays, he only makes fun of them because they're less manly than him. He hated the idea that a hero of his might be gay, that's all.

This show was decades ahead of its time.
Uh. . . it has nothing to do with being "gay" or "straight." The center of gravity in a man's body is different than the center of gravity in a women's body. The little experiment may not be "foolproof;" but it works often enough to be very amusing. =)

Two future soap icons on one iconic show. It's pretty cool when you think about it.
