@adachir87 i was a junior in this band when we played this piece. when we rehearsed this piece for the composer he actually said that he liked it played that fast. Even though you can't see it, Mr. Stice is giving the people who were off a weird look. I can assure you that the non precise rhythm you're talking about hadn't happened before; we were all kind of suprised that it did. thanks for the critique though.
@adachir87 constructive criticism is fine, but you have to understand that playing this piece was designed to push the limits of these students... Mr Stice is very smart in that regard, and they came a long way with this piece
Why do all high school bands on YouTube think that the "wow" factor only comes from speed rather than musicality? Like beginning. They slow down anyways, so why does the conductor start at a ridiculously unmusical tempo (for that particular section)? It only threw the band off, and the rhythm is not precise. They are not together. This is not an impressive performance of this fantastic piece of music AT ALL. It doens't matter if this is a high school band or not.
i did concertino for for wind for percussion in band, i begged my director to do this one but since we already did gillingham he wanted to do other stuff
WHAT AN EXCELLENT BAND!!!! I have wanted to see a high school band try this piece for a long time...have been eager to pull it out with my own group! This is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! I hope you guys are submitting tapes to the Music For All National Concert Band Festival and the Midwest Clinic!!!
