Oak Forest dominated for the 3rd straight game, beating the Hillcrest Hawks 39-0 at Hillcrest on Friday night. With 4 rushing TD's and over 100 yards from FB Ben Santiago (#25) the Bengals raised their record to 3-0. A slow start by Bengal offense resulted in a 0-0 score after the 1st Quarter and only 13-0 at halftime. The defense led by Ricky Vargas (#54), Brendan Power (#50) and Tom Livingston (#51) upfront and Blake Waller (#8) in the secondary caused all kinds of problems for the Hawks with their hard-hitting and ball-stripping. Also scoring for the Bengals was Rondell Saddler (#34) and with a spectacular leap, Tyler Usterbowski (#15).
Unfortunately, the game was marred by double digit personal foul and unsportsmanlike penalties by the Hillcrest Hawks. The game got so out of hand, both a player (#88) and a Coach from the home team were tossed early in the 4th quarter. If that wasn't enough, another Hillcrest player was wrestled to the ground by one of their coaches after the game while the teams were shaking hands at the 50 yard line. Too bad Hillcrest didn't listen to their own pre-game announcement which encouraged players, coaches and fans to abide by the IHSA Code of Conduct and Sportsmanship.
