That's a cool groove man! I play something fairly similar in the middle section of a cover my band does by frank marino ("finish line"). It may not help you but I find it can be easier to count stuff like this in 3/4. You're accenting those quarters on the cowbell so it sounds like syncopated 3/4, I don't know, counting it that way kinda helps me. Nice playing in any case!
