A Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron fanvid to "Main Theme (Pikmin)" and "Forest of Hope" from the Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack.
"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." -Issac Newton
Super Smash Bros. Brawl has, bar none, one of the greatest videogame soundtracks I've ever heard. It probably helps that it draws from so many diverse sources as part of its celebration of all that is Nintendo (plus Metal Gear and Sonic). So I thought to myself, "Self, it'd be cool to make some fanvids to this brilliant soundtrack." It kind of spun out wildly of control once I tried to pick one for Spirit.
This first batch of Brawl-based fanvids I've been working on for a while; they tell the story of the Cimarron Stallion via five fanvids to the tunes of new and old Nintendo music. The two rules I made to myself was that the songs had to be from games I'd played, and that each series could only be used in one fanvid.
Village of Hope is probably the most relaxed fanvid I've made to date. Since Brawl is a fighting game, it doesn't really have a whole lot of slow songs that would befit the break in the action wherin Spirit hangs around with the Lakota and meets Rain. I had to look for a while to find a suitable song, and I think I found them in the deceptively easygoing Pikmin portion of Brawl's soundtrack.
