yeah thats what i was about to say..she is actually a senior but she only played ball for three years..how weird would it be to not even attend school there but play for the team..and she does have something to fall back on

Well, folks she is choosing to leave b/c she is graduating with her degree. If she stays another year yeah in basketball she will be a senior but in school she will be a grad student. She was all-academic peoples. Next year would make it her 5th year b/c she had a medical red-shirt her freshman year.

Hope your class project went well. But, the conversations on Canadace "leaving early" have been very interesting and disappointing alike. They have illustrated how upside down our society is. We value sports moreso than education. It's always mentioned 3 or 4 paragraphs down in an article that she is graduating in May. She's entering the workforce like other 22 year graduates. Her field just happened to be in sports. I don't know too many kids who get the degree & hang out another year.
I think this point needs to be emphasized. She's opting out of her last year of eligibility since she redshirted her freshman year. Meaning she's graduating in May 2008 (so she will have something to fall back on). I heard Candace say this before in an interview, "I'm not really early, I would be staying late (by coming back next year" and it's so true. She's accomplished everything already in College already. She won a National Title, SEC Title, Named Player of the Year and got her DEGREE!

Thank you for your point. You are correct. We added an editorial note to our class project to clarify that point, but I forgot to note it over here. The only reason we included the one comment that said she wasn't getting her degree is because we needed 3 interviews for our assignment and the others we took didn't turn out well. Thank you for pointing that out.
