Timelapse Images of Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

Over the Rhine was built in the 19th century by German Immigrants. One of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the Midwest, OTR was the center of German Culture in Cincinnati.

Along with many inner-city neighborhoods in America, OTR fell into decline in the twentieth century.

Efforts are underway to gentrify the neighborhood and create a more diverse mix of people and uses. Two examples of this effort are 3CDC's Gateway Quarter and the Cincinnati Streetcar.

The neighborhood boasts Findlay Market, Music Hall, Washington Park, the Art Academy of Cincinnati, several performing arts theatres, as well as numerous bars and shops. Over the Rhine was registered as a historic district in 1983 and contains a significant level of Italianate architecture.

  • This area was built by German immigrants and then eventually destroyed and taken down by Africans.

  • This is the most dangerous neighborhood in the entire nation.

  • Notice how nearly everything is shot during the day

  • @ajknee mmmhmmm. isnt the shackespear theater there to?

  • @hellboymankey

There is absolutely nothing to be scared of. It's changed so much in the past three years. You have to go down there and check out the shops on Vine and Main Streets. If you want to play it safe, take a friend and go on the Final Friday (art gallery walk) or Second Sunday (neighborhood festival) of every month.

You're really missing out on this fantastic neighborhood.

  • i will say. im scared as hell of over the rhrine but i like the rest of the city... except the east side

  • music hall had my graduation ceremony there...was a great day

  • Damn I Love music hall..My Senior Prom was held ther back in 05.Colerain all the way

  • good stuff. I like the shot looking down Vine Street at the Kroger building.

  • Its amazing how great does OTR look nowadays... It used to be an eyesore and even though there is still stuff to do, it feels clean and safe and inviting! =)
