Volvo Olympian 10.4m 2-Axle - SBS Transit Service 246

These Volvo Olympians are the last non-conditioned fleet of public buses in Singapore. They were purchased by SBS Transit in an era where air-conditioned buses were considered a luxury, and travellers were conscious about the choice of operators alternating between air-con and non air-con buses. (This method was subsequently brought over when WABs were introduced)

Single-deckers could be easily converted, but it is impossible for double-decks due to the sheer weight of the new air-conditioning unit, the precise reason why all air-con double-deckers are 3-axle vehicles. A hundred of them were purchased, and were fitted with the Voith DIWA 851.2 3-gear automatic transmission. They have now been largely confined to serving Jurong Industrial services, such as this one.

May I ask a question about Singapore buses? As I lived in Hong Kong and had never been to Singapore before, this bus's engine soud is as that of Leyland Olympian's...

Will it be Cummings engine?

@HJ2127TR It is a Volvo TD102KF. Only Leyland-branded Olympians uses Cummin's engine.

@mailerdiablo The Cummins engine are also found on volvo olympians. Actually a alternative choice for bus companies besides a Volvo engine, just that SBS just prefered the volvo engine to be on Volvo Olympians

I usually take these non ac buses in Boon lay. I taken services 257, 249, 255, and 254.
