OMG...I used to date Phil Webb #56 (Full Back) ...wonder how he is doing these days!
-
right. I knew that. Don't know why I wrote "true."
-
Oh yeah. They made the Rose Bowl and didn't they "upset" USC.
-
I love watching Michigan dominate. Go Blue!

Awesome video, simply put that was the most throwing I've seen from a Bo team .
-
actually Grbac was a redshirt freshman.
-
Yes, and when Taylor suffered an injured back in fall practice in 1989 it meant that Grbac was the starter in the 1 vs. 2 game against ND as a true freshman, instead of Brown as a 5th year senior.

We had trouble replacing Harbaugh that season, Brown was clearly the more talented QB than Taylor, but he lacked discipline and he didn't want to run the option, which irritated Bo along with other issues.

Yeah. This game took place the week after Brown had that disastrous game against Sparty where he threw 7 interceptions. What a difference a week made. This was a very good Iowa team.
Despite his problems, Bo said Brown threw the deep ball better than any of his other QB's. Plus, there was that win over USC in the Rose Bowl the following year.

Did MSU win that game?

Yeah. A rare MSU win. That was the year they went to the Rose Bowl.
Despite how horribly we played, even throwing 6 interceptions, we had a chance to win the game at the end. But Brown's final pass in the endzone was intercepted despite the fact Greg McMurtry was wide open. MSU won 17-11.

Didn't Demetrius Brown become academically ineligible after the 1988 season.
