SEANC Radio Ads Urge House to Find Savings from BCBS, Not Health Plan Members
Starting today, radio ads will air in several markets urging state employees to call state House leaders to ask them to stop shifting costs to health plan members. SEANC members must be the vehicle to STOP the benefits erosion for state employees, while Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina continues to profit without any sacrifices to help the states working families and taxpayers.
Listen to the radio ad http://www.seanc.org/docs/Reports/SEANC-BCBS_ver1.mp3 or see the text below. Pass this on to your co-workers, state retirees and friends!
"Its not just executives on Wall Street who are making millions at our expense. Right here in North Carolina, big shots at Blue Cross Blue Shield are bringing home multi-million dollar paychecks, while health care costs skyrocket. Last year Blue Cross made $180 million in profits—including money from a no-bid contract to administer our State Health Plan. Not bad for a non-profit. Well, now the State Health Plan is in trouble and the legislature wants to not only cut benefits, but raise premiums, deductibles and co-pays to cover the costs and leave Blue Cross Blue Shield profits untouched. Thats not fair. Call House Majority Leader Hugh Hollimon at 919-715-0873 and tell him to make Blue Cross Blue Shield pay its fair share."
If you live in the Raleigh area, join SEANC at the House Insurance Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 31, when they will discuss Senate Bill 287, which is set to raise your health plan costs while asking for nothing from BCBS. Wear your blue shirts. Check the SEANC Web site soon for a time and location.
North Carolina Blue Cross Blue Shield wants to charge me $450 a month and I'm healthy... never had surgery or been hospitalized. What a racket.
