To do familiarisation you don't need to do any quests or have any skill requirements. But I do recommend doing the quest As a First Resort for the salt water pool. That gives you unlimited run energy for a period of time.
I use the reward of triple charm drops for waterfiends.

@jakewarning I generally use npc contact to talk to pikkupstix about him, but for the sake of this video, I wasn't on lunar spellbook, so I hopped worlds and talked to pikkupstix in person about pikkenmix. I have stumbled upon him twice in the past 2 days in the mole lair, but I had already collected raw shards.

What do you use to find out where Pikkenmix is? Or do you just stumble upon it (like me)?
