Sigh, American troops again. You can tell by all the unprofessional yelling and cussing that goes on when something happens. I mean, you should see them when an air strike hits its mark, the way they go shouting, whooping and cheering. Darn brave soldiers, but simultaneously undisciplined cowboys. Take a look at commonwealth soldiers (British, Canadian, Anzac), now that's discipline. Any cussing is quiet and officers are calm and controlled. Also, no unnecessary noises made.

@controlusplease you see all those cars and people driving around?? You're still in a war smart guy. This is why IED's are so deadly, because you're trying to run a patrol/convoy through a country of millions, yet still have to "watch for rebar between concrete bricks."
Keep your face in the dirt and get shot, or keep your head up and risk an IED. Can't look two places at once for hours and hours on end buddy

It's easy to say that you can see it and just avoid it, but it takes time for the turret gunner to recognize it and tell the driver or TC where it is. Your field of vision is very limited in a HMMWV!

i noticed the IED before it went off
when your going down the highway or any road in iraq you always have to watch the roadside for suspicious debris, recently dug dirt, gaps and potholes, and even sometimes the rebar between concrete bricks
in this case the IED was burried at :20 you can see the recently disturbed dirt on the side of the road
