  • I was there from 1963-1966,''divide and rule'',cypriots of greek descent made the division by the ethnic cleansing they started in December 1963.

Independance was from Britain to become INDEPENDANT Cyprus, the cypriots of turkish descent had no fear of that, but union with Greece, which was the intent all along, did get the cypriots of turkish descent scared.

Have union with Greece now and go bankrupt with them, look across the med to Malta, independant Malta, jealous yet?

  • @landers71 Great comment. Well said.

  • haha the point is mr 'voiceoftrnc',, how would you feel if i came into your house, forced you out of it and left you with nowhere to live???? how can you say that turks have a right to live in the north?? the turkish people who live in northern cyprus were sent from turkey to inhabit the land so greeks wouldn't go there!! you are trying to fight an unjust cause!!! greek people still have homes that they can't even go back to!!!!

  • @kikysspliff Well, Mr Spliff, Turkish Cypriots have been living on the island since the 1500s. Are you telling me they have no right to live there? If you actually research the FACTS of Cyprus history rather than just soak up all the propaganda around you, you would be enlightened to the reasons WHY Turkey intervened in 1974 and had the island separated. Also, most of the Greek homes were actually abandoned after a population swap agreed by BOTH sides a few years after the intervention.

  • I think Im the only Greek that has not been brain washed and also knows that it is not the Turks fault what happened. There are plenty of hypocrites out there, I know the Greeks are (sorry) but there are slating matches then they go over to the turkish side Casinos and gamble there money?? Or when asked what will you do if you get your village/town back there reply is dunno.. If they leave where will they go? Its there home, its like the British telling us to leave uk aa hello we were born here?

  • @Kyriaki1977 That is very true. According to recent surveys there would only be a very small percentage of Greek Cypriots that would actually return to their land in the North and it's the same with Turkish Cypriots. It's just a damn shame it all happened in the first place. I don't think it's a coincidence that Greek and Turkish Cypriots in the UK seem to be great friends. It's because they identify in eachother so many similarities, only because they are both CYPRIOTS.

  • This is what happens when we allow fanatics to make the decisions. Sampson and Grevas, and Denktash, all fanatics and the Cypriot people, both Greek and Turk paid the price.

  • What do they say ,divide and rule, they divided the two cypriot communities as they did in Ireland India etc etc,I hope the big boys in London and washington sleep well at night,as for Kissinger, how many countries have filed charges against him in the courts of human rights, dozens, any court date not a chance.

  • Turkish invasion resulted in killing of 6000 Cypriots of any ethnicity. 250 000 people of any ethnicity were misplaced from the homes becoming refugees in their own country.

It was not a peace intervention. It was a war invasion. Today the UN considers the Turkish invasion as a crime.

I am a Greek of Cyprus, I have no problem with the Turks of Cyprus. I consider them my BROTHERS.

I only want to live in a free, united Cyprus with no ethnic hatred and no armies and other countries intervening.

  • Good presentation of facts. Unfortunately essential facts are still missing.

EOKA nationalists killed around 250 Greek Cypriots because they were against the the Greek Turkish opposition in the island. TMT killed tenths of Turkish Cypriots who were also opposed to the Greek Turkish opposition.

This means that the clashes in the island were provocations backed from the armies of Greece and Turkey.

This was the plan for the Turkish army to invade.

  • What would Greeks say when they came under turkish occupation?

-ethnic cleansing and discrimination of Greeks in Istanbul 1955

-Gökceada/Imbros and Tenedos Greeks had autonmy garantee by Turkey after the LausanneAgreements but turkey closed in 1964 greeks schools and send criminals settlers their.......

  • @landers71 you are being ignorant looking only at 3 years you were there when there is much more history to it then 3, 6 or 10 years. the reason is because of you british, americans and mainland turkey taking advantage of the population, manipulating the two ethnicities to fight!! in that case you could get your bases and divide the island.. the majority of cypriots got along, my grandparents had many turkish friends living in peace.

  • @elbbd and as for Commitment trust and loyalty, well thats fine, same requirements for a happy marriage right? How can you marry someone who can only repeat what your potential mother-in-law thinks and says? The TCs need to show that they are no longer content being a minority in the "TRNC" and find a way of electing a representative who truly represents the views of the today's TCs (and the GCs need to do the same by the way)

  • @elbbd Please dont patronize, you have no insight whatsoever into my expectations of a settlement. I actually read the damn Annan Plan and there are 2 little lines in there giving the Bases sea territory outside the bases (shocking that thats where gas pipelines could pass through 10 years later isnt it) and and Cyprus, united or not, would not have been able to dictate its EEZ freely as the Maritime Laws of 1958 would still apply. Those 2 lines is what that plan was all about - simple enough?

  • kikyssplff, look at the dates,1963-1966,I was actually there and bear witness, yer ancestors blew it,I also know what it was like in Germany as a divided nation, enjoy your bleak future brought about by intolerence,or dont you care cos you do not live in Cyprus?

  • @landers71 no, not jealous at all as cyprus is independent just like malta!! haha we dont pay anything to greece

  • @VOICEofTRNC Well produced video and factual, this is a difficult and sensitive subject that needs cool logic to solve, wish it could return to pre 1963.
