The Colorado College Tigers sent the Seawolves from the University of Alaska-Anchorage packing with a 4-2 victory on opening night of the WCHA 2011 Final Five. Tiger sophomore defenseman Joe Marciano's first goal of the game proved to be the game-winner, as it gave CC a 3-0 lead and sent UAA starting goalie Chris Kamal to the pine. Anchorage native William Rapuzzi opened the scoring for the Tigers, and then assisted on junior Tim Hall's goal, making it 2-0 CC. Marciano, the player of the game, wrapped up the scoring for the Tigers with his second goal of the game late in the second period. Tiger forwards Stephen Schultz and Jaden Schwartz assisted on both of Marciano's scores. Mickey Spencer and Luka Vidmar scored for UAA.
