Ask the Dust is my all time favorite book and this is a movie about racial tension and being mexican... not at all what the book was about. Arturo Bandini never wanted a "golden haired girl", this movie is a total sham

I loved this movie. It was tender and treated the subject of internalized oppression with sensitivity and dignity. The typical multi-generational syndrome of having to blend to become "American" has repeated itself in the homes and lives of countless immigrants and even indigenous peoples across the US. I liken this film to West Side Story and give it a hearty thumbs up!
