@philmaturano Thank you for replying! That is all new information to me, and I am excited to learn more about all of it. Thanks for the advice and for a little bit of your time!

I've got a hard, broad question for you. How do you find the center of a beat? I play way in front of the beat, and I need to get back on the beat, unfortunately I always overshoot and my rhythm lurches. I am steady but in the wrong place. Advices? (If you can, I totally understand if you are busy as that is WAY too broad a question for a comment, or is it?

rrelrey: Very grateful for your comments. Very much appreciated!:-) and I hope that I get to hear you play some of the material soon! The books are doing very well and are part of the curriculum now in a few big drums schools around the world. Stay in touch and let me know how else I can help.
All the best to you

Hi Khaddar. What you need to do is expand your rhythmic awareness and understanding. The only way to get better at these micro timing issues is to study rhythm. Playing with a metronome doesnt help much. Train yourself in rhythm!
Working with my book doesnt hurt either:-)

@philmaturano Hi, Phil! I was wondering if you could explain what you mean by studying rhythm...Just studying rhythmic cells, or snare drum type books, or? I love your playing, (great time feel!!) and your new DVD looks awesome!

HI Bratha! Well what i suggest is rhythm in general. That includes rhythmic cycles, all the way through syncopation. Study 6/8. Study Indian rhythmic counting system. And look at things that are outside of drumming itself for a real broad perspective on rhythm. Like Fractal Geometry. That is how rhythm works for you. I hope that helps. If you look on my page there are some links to the fractal geometry stuff.
many thanks for writing
