Of course with "Anne Frank" one was working with a Broadway success and proven material -- depressing as it was. But, oh my! You took me back with "Hemingway". I must have been going to the movies alot in those days -- like "Bachelor" I can remember seeing it at The Village Theatre in Westwood with a friend one Saturday afternoon and we were both bored out of our minds!

Yes, I totally agree. Richard was excellent in "The Diary of Anne Frank". I think he'd rather forget "Hemingway's Adventures of a Young Man", however.

I met Richard several years ago whilst on a visit to Iowa. A gentleman in every respect. I, too, which that he'd appeared in more films. He lives on a farm.

I'm sure if Richard Zanuck or any elderly Fox executives who might still be alive could read this, their reaction would be "Where were you people when we needed you?" I was a very little boy when this came-out and can remember seeing it on a Sat at a theatre called The Picwood, just a few blocks from the Fox lot. They tried with this and several other films, but the public seemed indifferent to Richard Beymer, as I recall. Maybe it sometimes takes a few decades for an actor to find his public!
