Now THAT is teamwork!
-
damn that looked so smooth
-
These riders were pulling away from the top team (discovery) and the peleton by helping eachother. They are constantly switching off because the rider in first works the hardest because he is fighting the wind while the others slipstream behind him. they work together to get farther faster.

Cycling is the most beautiful sport :)

It completely depends, resistance increases exponentially the faster you go. For the same average power output per rider you can go a heck of a lot faster/further in a group than as an individual.
-
I heard over 1 hour, a group of 6 well trained athletes, can do approx 5 miles more than just one trained athlete by them self.
Thats how effective it is !

its never easy , you just get faster ; )
Beautiful.

The rider in front takes the brunt of the work. The others stay in his slip. They work their way to the front, stay in front for a bit and pull to the side and fall to the back.
This way they can up their overall pace without tiring themselves out too much. Riding in a group like this is much faster than riding on your own.
