Welcome to my very first 78 upload! I'm starting off with a seldom seen "Personal" label featuring Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians with vocal by Carmen Lombardo, from 1930.
The song is "Sunday Evening", one of the first records of Guy's "sweet band" sounds that would make him world famous.
I think this tune would have fit in nicely with the tunes on the soundtrack of the movie Paper Moon, dont you?
My thanks to my friend 2reeler for restoring the audio, (taking out the pops and clicks at the beginning of my record) and for making up this awesome video for me! There were several digs on the record, which are now magically gone, thanks to 2reeler!
Stay tuned, I've got lots of hot jazz and dance tunes from the 20s and 30s, coming soon! Thanks for listening!

  • Carmen is my hearththrob. I met Guy and Lebert back when I was younger and they were already older, in the 1970s. Sadly, Carmen was gone by then. Guy was a sweet and very patient gentleman and signed some sheet music for me. Thanks for posting this recording

  • @pomeroy40144 Oh! to have met Guy Lambardo would have been just AWESOME! And this means so much to me that You enjoyed this recording. Thank You so much for Your very kind reply.

  • Great posting Roybo! never heard this one before. it must be one of the rarest Lombardo recordings ever produced. I can't find it in the discographies but I learned it was from a radio broadcast "Princeton Triangle Show" and it was released by Columbia. Probably a limited distribution.

  • @bsgs98 Oh! Thank You so much for this INFO! I would have never known that this wasen`t issued except for the radio show! How neet it is that it was pressed at all! And thank GOD it was! For some reason Your comment was marked as spam??? I found it to be very valuable, and helpful! GOD Bless You Always

  • Hi Beef, I hooked up my speaker to play this and its so velvetty smooth its almost hypnotic! The bass is velvet too and unusually dominant, but the real pleasure is I don't hear any drums at all! Not even one cymbol crash! Unlike todays music that is all constant drum noises, its so nice to hear a song that excells on its beautiful melody. The subtle guitar is the only rhythm I can tell. The perfect tempo and timing by the Guy Lombardo band (without drums) is a deliteful change! Great song!

  • @IsisSlovenska Judie, Thank You so much for Your reply!
