with greenscreen manipultaions, i think the person would be at the center of the ship, at all time.- as he is obviously trying to be. eighter way, a fantastic performence/video

I am not entirely sure this is done "live" because it would be relatively easy to impose the walking figure of the artist onto a separate shot of the icebreaker. If it was done live, him walking in front, with a long telephoto he is certainly hundreds of yards ahead of the ship. This is not to deny that this is a compelling film and when it played during the Olympics on an outdoor screen it always made people stop and stare.
