For a man so clearly intelligent, Wolpe falls into every logical fallacy going. Quite extraordinary. Hitch (as usual) wipes the floor with him.

this is quite true and what i believe to be a dangerous element in religion. Accountability is dallied about to either god, it's son/ofspring what have you,or to forgiveness by muttering to one's self.this is why the criminal population is misled with religion as opposed to pursuing a productive vocation. this dogmatic nonsense teaches these individuals that a simple asking for forgiveness will allow them to still make it to heaven whilst continuing to commit crime.a fatuously perpetual cycle

I don't know about embarrassing. I would stand to say more or less grossly misled. Thousand of years of human society based on a lie and fear.... Maybe in time intelligence and wisdom will win out. Maybe when we throw out religion and start anew.
