I also didn't get the impression Gypsy Rose Lee was trying to be insulting and evidently Bennett Cerf didn't take it that way. I imagine the reason she wasn't asked back was that she didn't really add anything to the dynamic of the panel and was rather dull and uninteresting in that role.

That was very entertaining.

I wonder if the show's writers might have written the introduction for her.

@oceanbound222 Really? Great!

Sassoon is an evil Zionist !

Sassoon became a member of the 43 Group, a Jewish veterans' militia organisation that broke up Fascist meetings in East London after the end of the war. In 1948 he joined the Israeli Defence Forces to fight in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

It was most likely a written intro that she read, so if anyone p.o.'d him it should have been the writers

@soulierinvestments Looks like she was just joking. She gave a little wink there.

@soulierinvestments That surprises me. Bennett actually seemed to go along with it. The fact that she said, "short-sighted" and when he came out he took off his glasses and wiped them. He seemed to be able to laugh about it... Still it is an odd introduction and in questionable taste.

Calypigian damsels = females with lovely booty.
0:28 Gypsy Rose Lee's insult of Bennett Cerf so upset the producers that they never asked her back to the program ever EVER. No class on her part.

Really? Bennett himself doesn't seem too upset...you can usually tell when someone on the panel has really ticked him off (like that "may I finish" incident with Henry Morgan).
