Herbie Hancock's Cantaloupe Island is performed by the Stan Kenton Band at The Tucson Jazz Institute. The Kenton Band features a trombone battle between three trombonists as well as individual solos from Bobby Hastings on Tenor saxaphone and Marco Pablano on Trumpet. Doug Tidaback directs the middle school Stan Kenton Band at the Tucson Jazz Institute. Doug Tidaback's Kenton Band is a consistent top performer in the middle school division each year at the Fullerton California Jazz Festival.
