You can make the argument about his singing, but Mr. Newman himself would agree with you that he's not the greatest singer. It's not always about that - it's the lyrics and arrangement that make each song great in their own way. I mean, musicians like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen are notorious for not having "technical" singing ability, but they're ranked as two of the best songwriters of all time.
