What model of kenwood are you running

You are probably suffering from PLT (Power Line Transmissions) otherwise known as Broadband Over Powerlines. See: ban-plt. co. uk

I HAD an offending pc. I gave it away!

My pc made interference. First it sounded like some kind of data/cw transmission, but when I turned off my pc it stopped....

It sounds like my cable modem transformer does when I'm listening to 75 meters.
-
It sounds even worse because you have your radio on AM! AM is noisy.

I feel your pain friend. I have a plasma TV and it does sound similar to what I get, however, what i noticed is that it changes slightly dependant with whats on screen, turn TV over it changes etc, turning it off/on confirmed it was the TV for me.
I get it mostly on 160/80/40mtrs but also on the other bands to some extent. I'm moving my antenna soon in the hope it can pull it down a bit. If that doesn't work I'll flog it and get an LCD instead.

DO you have a plasma screen tv on near your set. I had the same problem with similar noise, and found one day the noise went when tv was off......

very bad noise...
No, I dont have a plasma screen near my set. I have a poorly kept electrical system surrounding my house. Poor grounding, broken insulators, arcing insulators, etc. It's against the law, what they are doing, but the FCC has better things to do.
