The author of Ombak Samudera, Kamariah Ahmad, is currently working on the English version of this book, entiltled, THE WAVE OF TSUNAMI in ACEH, with contents on the Trauma and Grief, Charity and Relief, History of Aceh and the question: 'Why Us'. The killer wave of Tsunami on 26th December 2004 was an unforgettable event that took an estimated figure of 200 thousand lives or more in Aceh. In this book the author highlighted some of the events as it unfolds day to day after the disaster. It is shared information gathered by the author who was in Aceh 3 months after Tsunami. Besides portraying tragic it is also an attempt to document events not to be forgotten in the future. Some research was done into the history of Aceh for the readers to truly understand the heart and soul of a civilisation that was once the pride of Muslims in South East Asia.

This book contains untold stories - a sharing from Aceh orphans. Readers would find the sharing of experiences by the orphans and children of Aceh through their writings and poems a touching experience. Their account of the true happenings going through the ordeal of being caught in the disaster together with how their life has been changed after the disaster and their gratefulness is a memoir to be shared. This book is beautifully illustrated with artworks drawn by the children of Aceh and Medan. It was a guided workshop done by the author who is also an artist to produce art that depicts the start of a new life. She hopes to use art as therapy by assisting the children to express themselves through art to help take away their feelings of hopelessness. The start of a new beginning can be seen through the use of strong vibrant colours. Being Muslims some of their art have traces of Islamic influence.
