Jefferson Airplane's 1966 song, Let Me In. Drums, vocals, and bass, semi-isolated from the rest of the mix. Thank you Jack Casady. Nobody played the bass like this in 1966!
Since this was prior to Jack's Guild Starfire days, the bass featured here is his 1965 Fender jazz bass -- prior to being modded with the precision bass pickup in the neck position, as shown in the photo

  • Jack Casady is my number one bass inspiration. He was the first to play like this in rock music.

  • Jack is God!!

  • I always thought this was one of the finest examples of Jack. I read in the 1968 Gleason book that Jack was really unhappy with his playing on Takes Off and felt like what he did on it only sufficed to the smallest degree. His playing is actually what makes the first album stick out to me.
