Fiona Dawes is misinformed about there being "ridiculous rules" about job substitution. There aren't any. No-one has a problem with people volunteering for a charity, or not-for-profit organisation (such as Medecins Sans Frontieres). But there would be legitimate concerns if a profit-making company sacked all its staff and asked for volunteers to run the organisation instead. I'm surprised VE put this up, given the excellent work of the Information Team in the area of Volunteers and the Law.
