John Amner was born in Ely, Cambridgeshire, in 1579 and died there in 1641. A contemporary of Gibbons, Weelkes and Tomkins, he's greatly neglected perhaps because he was a provincial composer who devoted nearly all his compositional efforts for the choir of Ely Cathedral - the Cathedral for whom he worked all his life. His dedication paid off - his highly individual music is far from provincial.
This video part of a playlist of Amner's music which you can find here:

Lyrics:
I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live, I will praise my God while I have my being.
And so shall my words please him; my joy shall be in the Lord.
As for sinners, they shall be consumed out of the earth,
and the ungodly shall come to an end.
Praise thou the Lord, O my soul; praise the Lord, O my soul.
@titussenlair It's a lovely piece of music that I've become rather fond of.
