@Judasmac Finally somebody gets it right. Just about every tab out there has G as the resolving chord during the verse. Thanks. Oh, and this video is the first one I've seen to get the second chord correct (Am7). So by combining several sources, I'm slowly learning this song the right way :)
@Judasmac I just noticed a live performance where they do end on the G instead of the Em/B -- an adjustment for the live show, I guess -- although when he plays the Am, he puts his pinky on the D not the G. I like it that way, ending on a 1st position Em with pinky on G. That preserves the shift from Em in the verses to G in the chorus.
The verses don't end on G, but on Em -- actually played up the neck with the high B ringing out. That's tough to play sliding up from 1st position Fmaj7, as is playing the Fmaj7 on the 5th fret. Best with two guitars, if you want to match the sound of the recording. The tabs I've seen have the erroneous G too (Marty, are you getting lazy and working off tabs?), but just play the Em on the 7th fret vs G and you'll hear which is right.
@docmagic1 ...the original when recorded was played on the 12 string at both the open position and overdubbed with a capo at the 5th fret. So to replicate the sound just playing open position on a 6 string is impossible no matter what chords you play
