I-GO treats its amazing members to a holiday party every year. It's a great opportunity for members to mingle and take pride in being part of a progressive community nurtured by a local, non-profit org (that would yours truly, I-GO).
For the past few years, we've enjoyed the generous support of the Merchandise Mart, which provides a lovely party room on the 15th floor (with sweeping, scenic views, natch) and offers our guests free entry to its One of a Kind Show and Sale. This year, the shindig took place Dec. 1, 2011, complete with a new themed name: the Chicago Shares Celebration, honoring our city's emerging sharing economy.
"I-GO is about making it possible to live well in Chicago without a car," says I-GO CEO Sharon Feigon. "When car ownership is part of your identity, there's a mental shift you need to make when you give up your vehicle. We want people to feel like they're part of a car-sharing community and we're here to celebrate that."
Revelers also enjoyed savory food and drink, vied for sweet raffle prizes, and heard all about I-GO's big, bold plans for 2012, which include the addition of electric vehicles powered by solar charging stations.
A giant thank you to Merchandise Mart Properties, Sierra Nevada, Eli's Cheesecake, Joffrey Ballet, Hotel Allegro, Christina Frances Photography, Flying Colors Media, and Bull & Bear, which kept the fun going with an after-party night cap.
