Broadcast on Pyromania by Dr. Gary Solomon in his series of lectures on Impulse Disorders. Taken from his book "A Psychiatric Diagnosis Primer: an easy guide to identifying psychiatric illness", Dr. Solomon explains the many disorders as defined in the DSM IV. Dr. Solomon was the first to write on the topic of 'Cinematherapy' (TM).

  • @Cerberus091 Where the gratification is sexual in nature, it is referred to a Pyrophilia.

  • @Cerberus091 Not often. I feel the urge to do it more often though whenever I see something I don't like (like a Billboard magazine, for example).

  • Also some pyromaniacs have somesort of fetish to fire.

  • @SupremeMaggot

do you do that sort of thing often? or was that an occastional thing?

by the way slipknot is awsome.

  • I lit my socks on fire at a Slipknot concert back in 2008. It was at the Mayhem Festival in San Bernardino. My socks had big holes in them and were starting to get really uncomfortable so I took them off and threw them in a bonfire that was in the middle of the mosh pit. Does that count as pyromania?

  • Doc, you are Wrong! curiosity about fire is natural, play or lighting a fire is NOT. Kids should not being playing with fire at all, and if so, CBT & Fire Safety Education is strongly needed.
