A superb arrangement by Miguel Llobet of a sublime Catalan Folk song.

I put Aquila Gut and Silk classical guitar strings on to my wife's beginner-guitar - a 'Baby Rodriguez, Senorita Scale'. The strings were designed specifically for early 20th-century guitar music, and really transformed the cheap guitar into something special. I hope you like it. I play without nails, just the flesh of the fingertips connecting with the gut.

  • Really beautiful sound quality and Llobet's music is great in your hands. Is it possible to put this type of strings (Aquila Gut and Silk) on a normal size classical guitar ? Thanks.

  • Yes. In fact, they are made for normal-size guitars. I am surprised they work so well on this smaller instrument. I also have them on my Panormo - see other videos on my channel.

  • Ok, many thanks; I often listen your videos on the romantic guitar with the music of F. Sor and so on and I always found the sound very warm and beautyful. I come from the very modern classical guitar school and I feel actually more and more attracted with this completely different sound quality !

    Thanks again.

  • It is difficult to break away from what you have learned, and what is normal for those around you, but you must follow your own path, wherever it might lead you. But you know this already :-)

  • awesome work, i have gained so much appreciation for the classical guitar and has made me want to get back into playing it after watching this video

  • An interpretation of the Highest Order!

    Beautiful touch,

    Amy

  • Hey. Very well played.

Only a note about the title. The title could be: "El testament de n'Amelia"(old catalan) and also can be "El testament d'Amèlia"(modern catalan).

Well the particle " n' " is an abbreviation of "na" and means "lady". And is the female of "en" that means "mister". Today "na" or "en" is not very used in modern catalan. But still being right.

The sentence "El testament d'Amèlia" or "El testament de n'Amèlia" translated to English is: "The will of Amelia".

  • nice one amigo!

is that proper gut strings? i want those for my flamenco guitar! didnt realise we could still get them!

  • Your performance is very special. It somehow speaks softly/intimately to someone's heart.
