  • Well, I disagree that 'Rev of the Mind' is his greatest concert album. The mix was horrible. The drum sounds the same throughout, tinny and very laid back. If they rerelease it with a better bottom mix then I will like it much better. I much prefer the 'Live In Dallas 1968' CD and the actual live songs on the 'Sex Machine album from 1970 ("I Don't Want Nobody To Give Me Nothing" "Licking Stick" "Spinning Wheel" "There Was A Time" "It's A Man's World" "Please" "Can't Stand It" "Mother Popcorn".

  • @PaulDA2000

I like the Sex Machine live recording - but that album, and all his previous live albums, are RHYTHM & BLUES. They are VERY funky in parts, but they are still RHYTHM & BLUES.

Revolution Of The Mind is the first live recorded FUNK album - never been done before...

Sure, the mix is crap, but the GROOVE is invincible!

"Revolution Of The Mind" is INCOMPARABLE!

By the way Paul, when you are sending folk a link, this is the best way to do it:

  • LOL, I did it again! Used the wrong sign in! HA!

  • @PaulDA2000

Yes, Apollo '62 is not his best concert album! His best concert album is REVOLUTION OF THE MIND! which can never be touched by any other artist. It is SMOKING from BEGINNING to END! It is not just his greatest live album, it is the GREATEST James Brown album OF ALL TIME. PERIOD!

I will upload my EQ'd tracks from it today.

  • So Ike, what do you think of my not liking the '62 Apollo album as much as all the critics seem to. Actually I think most just repeat what everybody else is saying about it without checking out all the other superior James Brown live albums.

  • @twilighter112108

Yes, I know when I see "twilighter" it's you...no problem!

Yes, I know what you mean about how some folk just "go with the flow". As I said I have, I have a "bit" of the Live At The Garden album. I downloaded Apollo '62 as a bit torrent, and for some reason a bit of the Garden LP was tacked onto the end of it! My pal has it on vinyl...
