Obscure Game Theater Quickie - Bokosuka Wars Victory

Yeah, so I went through and beat Bokosuka Wars for you all. Was it worth it? You tell me. Obvious Save State abuse left intact just to show how annoying the whole process was.

Musical choices are actual for a reason! Check it out:

Live and Learn: Because I didn't learn my lesson the first time obviously.

I am Impact: ...I just like it. Mainly so there wouldn't be so much dead air before the last one.

What I'm Made Of: Storming the castle, single handedly wiping out the Lizard King's strongest minions... this just seemed completely appropriate somehow.

What C64 emulator are you using? I got one, but the keys are all over the shop. I cannot play any of the ageams i downloaded.

I use WinVICE. It can emulate, I believe, all the various C* platforms if you can find stuff for them. And its options and keybindings are pretty easy to play with.

How does it work? Why can you beat them this time round, but when you played it first you struggled.

Is it just luck??

The game is entirely luck based. I just manipulated the luck by making a save state in the emulator before each fight and reloading it until the luck was in my favor instead of theirs.

The real way of doing it involves amassing an armor of painfully annoying to control dudes who have just as random of a chance of survival as you do. This is a game where you almost -have- to cheat to win.

Heh; how things have changed, huh? This looks like a flash game to us now, but this was standard graphics and gameplay back then, even if this wasn't the best designed game ever. The ending is pretty cute I think, but even the better games weren't much more advanced than this. Thank you for saving me Mario; we now have a new and harder quest for you. Bitch, I just saved you, I'm not doing that again just because you tell me to!

Yesterday night I played this on my DS and fought every single battle. I lost at the 3rd or 4th yellow demon at around 210m or so.
