Recap: Rebecca was found in the living room soaked in her blood... She was taken to the hospital.
Joes POV
Its 1 in the morning. I woke up because Rebecca was making such a racket. We were in the hospital because Rebecca was hurt. When I woke up, I saw Nick and Kevin trying to wake Rebecca up. She was tossing and turning frantically.
Rebecca ~ Please dad!... No!... Please! Dont hurt him!... Joe!
I watched her carefully. She shot up from her bed right after she said my name. Her eyes met with mine for a few seconds. Her eyes were wild and scarred. Mine were careful. I tried not to glare but it wasnt warm either. After our little stare, she pulled her knees close to her and hid her face in it while her arms were around her knees. Then she started to cry so hard I couldnt tell if she was breathing or not. Kevin and Nick were sympathetic and worried about her.
Rebecca ~ (Still sobbing) Please go away
Nick ~ Well be right outside okay?
Kevin ~ Call if you need anything
Rebecca just nodded in response. Kevin, Nick, and I left her room and sat on the chairs next to Rebeccas hospital room. I was still trying to figure out what she was saying. She said Please dad, no please dont hurt him, then my name.
Kevin ~ Hey Joe, figure out what she meant when she said those words?
Me ~ No, why? Do you guys know?
Then Nick mumbled something really quietly.
Me ~ What Nick?
Nick ~ (Glares) Never mind
Me ~ No, tell me
Nick ~ I said I want my brother back. Happy?
Me ~ (Shocked, faint voice) What? What are you talking about?
Nick ~ (Harsh, hushed, yelling voice) I said I want my brother back. I want the brother who actually cared about people. Who didnt care what other people said. (stands up) The brother who cares about me, Kevin. The one who cares about Rebecca!
I just sat there shocked at what he said.
Kevin ~ Nick
Nick ~ Ever since you heard that she was abused by her aunt and uncle, you were this other person I dont know. I may have only been 7 but I had a brain. I know you were different.
Me ~ Nick
Nick ~ And give Rebecca some slack. You say you love her. (scoffs) Yeah right, words are NOTHING without action. Show us you care, show me, show Kevin, show Rebecca, our family!
Me ~ (stands up) Nick, I didnt mean to act like that. I didnt when mom and dad told me, it hit me hard.
Nick ~ So, when I heard I had diabetes, I didnt let it change me like you did. I didnt become a monster. Im going to the restroom.
I looked at Kevin for help.
Kevin ~ Go after him. You dont know how long hes been holding it in all of this.
I saw Nick disappear at a corner. I got up and went to find my baby brother.
Kevins POV
I watched Joe followed Nick. Once they were out of my sight, I softly knocked on Rebeccas door.
Rebecca ~ (softly) come in
I went in and saw Rebecca lying on her bed. Her eyes were swollen and she looked like she cried her eyes out. I sat on the chair next to her bed. I took her hand, brotherly, and held it. I smoothly rubbed my thumb on the top of her hand.
Me ~ (softly) Hey, how are you feeling?
Rebecca ~ Is that true?
Me ~ Is what true?
Rebecca ~ I heard everything.
Me ~ Yeah, everythings true.
Rebecca ~ He loves me?
Me ~ For as long as I can remember.
Rebecca ~ But...
Me ~ You said you heard everything so you should know. After my mom and dad told him about your aunt and uncle, he totally change. I guess you can tell by Nicks little speech out there.
Then someone bursted through the door.
Joe ~ (angry) I told you not to tell her.
