@iszarieTedder there's a facebook group for spidee-1. The biggest cost is the servos. You can get a box of 20 metal geared servos for a good price if you hunt on eBay. Total cost nowadays? ~$500 + tools & software.

very nice. it seems to me you could make that more energy efficient if you added springs to supply the typical average static forces on each joint (apologies if you already have springs i can't see) ... this also leads to having larger mobile robots where the controller must take into account the system resonance to move efficiently. if you want to design robots you will need an engineering degree; ideally a robot course, but really you'll be able to work with robots from any engineering degree
