CCRCS Tom's ShokJet

This was the first day out with my Shokjet. Turbine is a Kingtech K80F. Gross wt ready to fly is 18.5 lbs with 50 oz of JetA. Thanks to Mike for buddy box (I don't have my waiver yet) and also thanks to John for the camera work.

what was the cause of the engine being so slow to react?

@flyboycub It's called Turbine Lag, it takes a few seconds to go from idle to full power. I waited too long to give it the juice, as Mike stated in the video, I should have given it the juice as I passed the approach threshold. Fortunately, the Shokjet can glide well otherwise I would have been forced to land in the rough area beyond the runway.

Very nice! The K-80 is a great turbine! I have one on a Falcon120..

@billyd44444 The K80 ran great, I think I might dial down the ACCEL DELAY a little for the next flight though, it's still set at factory default (7 I believe), and I've read for low DA and mild temperatures I can safety go to 3, which should improve the response a little.

Those trees aren't as well fed as you might think, but a friend did strain a boomer jet through them awhile back. To a tree, balsa wood and Monokote taste just like chicken!

I thought it was over too, and I was holding the instructor transmitter. Wouldn't have done any good to take it back, we just waited for that Kingtech to spool-up.Good thing it did, those trees looked hungry!
